About Dale Nix
Dale Nix is a long-time contributor to the travel industry, having spent over twenty years in the airline and hospitality sectors in the international marketplace.
Dale is an results-focused travel industry Director possessing multi-disciplined experience in sales management, marketing, automation, sales analysis, training, consulting, pricing, corporate policy, customer service, project and change management with market leaders InterContinental Hotels, Forte Hotels and American Airlines. His career in the USA and in the United Kingdom has included senior positions involving Field Sales and Strategic Sales Planning, Global Distribution, sales force automation and CRM systems.
During his tenure at American Airlines, Dale was a member of the Passenger Sales Board and was a key contributor on American Airlines’ Value Plan pricing development team. Dale also represented the passenger sales department on the AMR Flagship Pilots’ Strike Contingency team and the interdepartmental Cost Effectiveness Task Force.
As an internal consultant to middle and senior management, Dale led the Anti-Drug Task Force that adopted DOT-mandated policy and introduced random drug testing procedures for the world’s largest airline. He also provided subject matter expertise across ten organisational disciplines and was responsible for assessing developmental needs for coaching and training at all levels of management.
While at Forte Hotels, Dale standardised “best practice” in face-to-face customer sales processes and implemented improved key account management processes across the hotel portfolio, supported by the delivery of global sales force automation tools. Additionally, Dale led a cross-functional project for the Forte Board of Directors that determined opportunities for agent disintermediation.
At InterContinental Hotels Group (formerly Six Continents Hotels and Bass Hotels), Dale led the team supporting the company’s global distribution practices in EMEA, facilitating the delivery of over $735M across various channels through rate and data management in IHG’s central reservation system. Most recently, Dale led a cost containment project to reduce departmental spending through process reengineering, automation, staff consolidation and selective offshoring. This followed an intensive review of distribution and data management processes, leading to operational cost savings for the department of over $2.3M annually.
